Chip's Advance

Based on the under-rated late 1980s puzzle game Chip's Challenge, Chip's Advance finds you taking the role of Chip. He's a man with a mission—he'll do anything to join Melinda the Mental Marvel's exclusive computer club, so she charges him with exploring dozens of levels, collecting all of the chips on each one, in order to proceed to the next. Numerous traps exist along the way, including fire and water (both of which can be repelled with shields) and various monsters. There are also doors, sliding blocks, teleporters and moving walkways to deal with, all of which make grabbing all of those elusive chips all the more tricky.

This Game Boy Advance remake retains all the playability of the original, but ramps up the presentation from the blocky 8-bit versions, resulting in a display more befitting of the more modern system. The controls are responsive and the available options enable you to disable the music should it get on your nerves. The only minor niggle is that French interface elements are retained even when you choose the English language option, but other than that, this is a great conversion of the original and an essential download for puzzle-game-loving GBA owners.
