  • It has been brought to my attention that the new GBA game Tron 2.0 Killer App contains emulated versions of Tron and Discs of Tron, the two Bally Midway arcade titles from 1982/1983. The emulator uses PocketNES-like scaling and is surpringly playable; sound is especially good in Tron, though Discs of Tron lacks the speech and backdrops and has some off sounds. (Thanks to Dahak for the news.)

Sorry for the lack of updates everybody, but here are a couple of items to keep you going.

  • First of all, there is a new emulator on the GBA: it is a BBC Micro emulator called PocketBeeb. It seems very good, although there are some speed issues, and the original BBC computer had 10 keys, so you need to map out the buttons on your GBA. The emulator has some very nice features like changing the screen scaling manualy, a must get for you UK retro gamers.
  • On another note, I will be going around the tools and utilities page and adding the downloads to the updated tools and such.
  • Also, I am working on a new site layout for GBAFan, so check back soon for a fresh new look and updates!

  • An anonymous contributer writes: "The SMB2J IPS for PocketNES includes a text file that references a GoodNES ROM called "Super Mario Bros 2 (J) [p1]", which isn't in GoodNES 2.01. It's been renamed to "Mario and Luigi (SMB1 Hack) [a1]", which is arguably wrong, but it appears to be the same ROM; The CRCs (w/ and w/out header) match, if you patch it with the IPS the "Super Mario Bros 2" logo appears in FCE Ultra, it works with PocketNES. World 1-1 plays like the "Lost Levels" in Super Mario All-Stars. So, I'm pretty confident it's the correct ROM."
