Goomba

Goomba is an excellent Game Boy emulator that has fantastic speed and compatibility. The incredible emulator even has sound, and runs a very few Game Boy Color games (in mono mode). You can choose from a list of color schemes, using the same menu style as PocketNES and PCEAdvance. Be sure to stop by the forum to discuss the emulator. Also included is GoombaPal, a program for editing the color schemes which sadly only works with version 1.8.

DrGB

Screen grab

THis emulator is by Reesy, author of the excellent DrSMS. This emulator saw only one release, and though it was very exciting at the time, the project was discontinued. Goomba has better support and speed, and Reesy is spending his GBA coding time on DrSMS. However, despite its short lifespan this is still a good emulator. It has decent speed and runs Tetris perfectly. A fellow named devgba posted a very basic injector, which you can download via the links section to the right.

However, since the injector only allows you to add one game at a time, try making a textfile and putting this in it:

FOR %%1 in (*.gb) do copy /b drgb.gba+"%%1" "%%1.gba"

Then rename the file to drgb.bat, put it in a file with .gb roms and the drgb.gba, and run it.

PocketGB

This abandoned emulator only made it to an alpha release, but it had pretty decent speed for its time. There is no homepage, but a compatibility list is included in the zip file.

GBonGBA

Another abandoned Game Boy emulator, GBonGBA features sound support and decent compatibility, but it is not as fast nor as compatible as Goomba. Some usage notes:

To enter menu: L+R
To switch Trace on/off: A
To switch sound on/off: B
To exit menu: R

GBX

This abandoned emulator was written by SmileyDude and last updated on March 29, 2002. It used ARMBOY as its base, but little of that source is still left in it. No commercial games run in this version. The source is available in the download. Features:

Tile based rendering
ARM ASM Core (incomplete at this time)
Some U/I tweaks (try the L and R buttons)
