Remuadvance
Remuadvance is an emulator for the coin-op beat 'em up Renegade (also known as Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun). This emulator, coded by FluBBa of PocketNES and Goomba fame, is an excellent example of the capabilities of the Gameboy Advance. The game is fully playable (although, due to difficulty, I was unable to make it past the first level), but has no sound.
The emulator uses MAME arcade ROMs. The files needed are renegade.zip and kuniokun.zip. Extract these files into your emulator directory and run the batch (.bat) file of your choice to compile. Make sure your flashing software allocates 8kByte/64kbit of SRAM for Remudvance.
Green Boy
This Green Beret/Rush and Attack arcade emulator was Flubba's entry into the GBAX 2005 competition.
Mr. Duh!
Flubba's second arcade emulator release in July 2005 was this fine creation that emulates the classic Mr. Do! He says: "The results from the GBAX 2005 competition are online, and that means I can release a new version of the Green Beret emulator... I didn't win anything this time, so to celebrate that I also release a Mr. Do! arcade emulator."
BlackTiger
Flubba's 4th arcade emulator is an emulation of the BlackTiger hardware. This emulator uses the same menu system as all of FluBBa's emulators, and has access to cool things like the DIP switches. This emulator was created because FluBBa is optimizing MAME for the GP32, and thought this would be a good experience.
Information
Pros
- Games play at full speed
- Many supported games
Cons
- Sound only avaiable on Pac-Man hardware

rgbArcade
rGBArcade is an excellent collection of arcade emulators written by rgb. It includes support for Pheonix, Pleades, Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr, and now Pac-Man. The Pheonix and Pleades emulators use a vertical screen (hold the GBA sideways), and the Donkey Kong emulators utilize the L and R buttons for scrolling (see screen grab below). The emulation is near perfect, and the games play at correct speeds. In the new versions, rgb has consolidated all of the arcade games into one loader, and support for many other games has been added. Here is the current list of supported games, in no particular order: Crush Roller, Dingo, Donkey Kong 3, Donkey Kong Jr, Donkey Kong, Eyes, Frogger, Galaxian, Gorkans, Moon Cresta, Ms. Pac-Man, Pengo, Phoenix, Pleiads, Ponpoko, Pooyan, Scramble.
Sound is only available on Pac-Man hardware games in unscaled mode. Sprites in scaled modes are a bit odd in some games. Start and select brings up the menu, and shoulder buttons switch between the config screen and the last game screen.
Information
Pros
- Good speed
- Ability to scroll screen
Cons
- Unfinished

ArcadeAdvance
TheHiVE, author of ZXAdvance and CoG, worked on this arcade emulator on and off for a while. For the moment, initial teaser beta emulators that are pieces of ArcadeAdvance are all that's available. These emulators are not ArcadeAdvance per se, rather emulators built off an earlier version of HiVE's Z80 cpu core. Phoenix and Pleiades are the only releases, and were done a long time ago. Note that these are beta demo teasers, and are in no way to be construed as TheHiVE's final work; also note that scrolling is done by using the up/down buttons.
In addition to those two preview releases, there is another version of HiVE's Phoenix emulator that's really sweet. This one is incredibly fast, and can toggle between five different screen modes (two horizontal, and three vertical). There is no sound, like all the other arcade emus for the GBA, but this is still cool. Use the R button to toggle between views.
Atari Anniversary Advance
This is a commercial emulator, which includes hacks in the games for speed. The compilation includes the arcade versions of Asteroids, Battlezone, Centipede, Super Breakout and Tempest.
GBA Asteroids Emulator/translator
An old arcade project. Interestingly, the website goes through the whole process of how the emulator was made, which could be useful to people interested in coding their own arcade emulator for the GBA. Unfortunately, the emulator is unplayably slow and the most recent update was in January 2002.
Punchout GBA
An unfinished Punchout arcade emulator written by Phil Stroffolino.
Centipede Advanced
A Centipede arcade emulator released a while back. Unfortunately, version 0.2 was the only release, and it is too slow to be playable.
Pacman/Ms Pacman
Another incomplete arcade emulator, abandoned back in 2001. See the website for screenshots.
Space Invaders
An incomplete emulator by the same author as above, but in this case he released the source. See the website for information and screenshots.
